About
Sylvia Akingbade, Psy.D., LPC
Hello, and welcome. I’m Dr. Sylvia Akingbade, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Texas. With over seven years of experience in the mental health field, I’ve had the honor of supporting children, adults, and individuals who are elderly or living with disabilities.

From an early age, I felt a deep calling to help others and make a meaningful impact. That passion led me to study psychology and ultimately guided me toward a career as a full-time therapist. Since 2014, I’ve worked with a diverse range of clients, each navigating their own unique set of challenges. In 2020, I opened my private practice to serve the greater Houston area, offering a wide range of counseling and psychological services.

I am deeply committed to the well-being of every client I serve. My goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel seen, heard, and supported. Life can be complex, and seeking help is a courageous first step. I’m here to walk beside you as you gain the tools and insights needed to heal, grow, and move forward.

My therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy. Through CBT, we work together to understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact—and how to shift patterns that may be holding you back. The person-centered approach ensures our sessions are tailored to your unique experiences and needs, always grounded in empathy, respect, and collaboration.
I believe therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. You are in control of your journey, and my role is to support and guide you with care and clinical expertise. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or major life transitions, know that you don’t have to face it alone.

Thank you for considering me as your therapist. I look forward to connecting with you and walking alongside you on your path to healing.
